Meeting with a Guide Who
Leads You Through The Shifting Memories Method

Why is there no contact with a Guide allowed prior to meeting with them in person?

Every Guide leads each customer through the exact same process in a single face-to-face, 1:1 meeting.  No couples, no groups, no observers may join any meeting.

This is not a psychotherapy method, and it is not a trauma treatment.  The Guide walks you through a highly structured conversation that appears to be just a series of visualizations.  They do not discuss your upsetting memory with you in any way during the process.  If you are anxious or upset, you may appear to our non-therapists to be in need of treatment, and a Guide may need to “pass” on working with you.  Guides are instructed to be kind but they are not there to offer comfort or soothing so they can maintain the focus and purpose of the Method.

The process only takes between 15-45 minutes to complete.

The Method helps you shift a memory.  Every Guide has been supervised in following the steps carefully.  Results may vary but many people notice an immediate difference after the conversation and often find the shift surprising.

The purpose of showing you Guide Pages is to make certain that the Certified Guide you are selecting is someone you would not feel uncomfortable meeting.

The conversation has a surface structure; however, the Guide works at multiple levels and is watching for subtle cues in your breathing, pupil size and other non-verbal signals to determine if you are making the correct shifts in your thinking as they lead you.

You can think of it as being tutored by your Guide.  Your tutor shows you several ways to understand the concept of multiplication, and they they show you how and when to apply the concept of multiplication.  Your Guide will teach you how to shift a memory in a useful way.  Once you’ve had it shifted for you, you will understand how you can apply this to any other upsetting memories, as you have just mastered an incredibly useful coping skill.

What Can I Do to Get the Most Out of the Meeting?

Follow the Guide’s instructions with your full attention and participation.  If you do, the process goes smoothly and quickly.  If you are trying to figure out why your Guide is asking each question and try to figure out the “underlying structure,” you will neither participate nor observe. This is guaranteed to ruin the experience.  Trust your Guide. Let them lead.

Fees are non-refundable, and results may vary.  The Guide you are booking is an independent entity solely responsible for their own actions, and you grant indemnity to any other companies, organizations or individuals from the Guide’s individual behavior or activities.  The Guide audio records the interaction, and this is retained exclusively by the Guide.

Facts About The Shifting Memories Method

The Shifting Memories Method(sm) is Not Therapy

  1. We offer one (1) interaction; a guided conversation that lasts from 15 to 45 minutes.
  2. We are not trying to fix a problem.  We demonstrate to people alternative ways to recall a memory.
  3. We do not ask them to discuss past events related to why they are meeting with us.
  4. We do not have them remember or report content of any specific upsetting event.
  5. We do not discuss any history of any upsetting memory or its impact on them.
  6. We lead every individual through the same process, adapted slightly for the individual.
  7. We do not involve other people or any family members in the process.  Having others present during the conversation is not allowed.
  8. We do not ask people to forget anything or stop any thoughts.
  9. We demonstrate first, then share a process, then explain how it works.  If we could walk up to you and just tell you how to do it, we would do that. But there are some very subtle steps involved.
  10. Guides demonstrate that what they just did as a Guide may seem simple, but it relies on a lot of memorized steps, and carefully watching reactions – like breathing changes and pupil size. It looks easier than it is to keep the steps and components on a direct path during the process.

Four Safety Measures Built into The Shifting Memories Method

  1. The process can be stopped and interrupted at any point if either person does not wish to continue, without any problems or side-effects.
  2. A required frame whenever we start is, “We are experimenting with moving things.  You can always move things back to the way they were before we adjusted anything.”
  3. Each Guide has practiced identifying verbal and non-verbal indicators of a need to clarify instructions and continue/or discontinue the process.
  4. Each Guide has memorized a list of disqualifying factors for individuals with certain behaviors and knows to possibly refer people to a clinical professional if uncomfortable.

Only Simple Elements are Manipulated – No Psychological Techniques

  1. The method has been developed working with thousands of people in crisis situations over a span of 40 years – without clients having any negative side-effects.
  2. Only simple elements are adjusted – No psychological techniques are utilized. There is no “analysis of motives” or suggesting of causes or issues.
